The city of Volterra and its beautiful surroundings are probably one of the most varied and rich in attractions in all Tuscany. The undisputed historical tradition combines with the beautiful nature it has to offers, from the morphology to the vegetation to the fauna, a very impressive heritage.

Here, history has left its mark with continuity from the Etruscan period until the nineteenth century, with artistic and monuments of great importance, which can be admired simply walking through the streets of the historic center, but also visiting the city´s museums: the Etruscan Museum, the Civic Art Gallery, the Museum of Sacred Art and the Living Museum of Alabaster.
Besides these monuments, you can find a pure landscape, a life quality still "human" and an artistic craft unique in the world: the alabaster.

Every year, in August, the "Volterra 1398 A.D." is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself, as out of the blue, in the magical atmosphere of the Middle Ages, in one of the most beautiful cities of Tuscany: on this occasion, Volterra´s historical center will be dressed like a medieval city of 1398 with its markets, musicians, jugglers, commoners and nobles. The city will be enlivened by music and theater groups, jugglers, set in an urban setting that still keeps in mind the traces of the past.
